Anarchism
Started
with meeting a vocal socialist at age of 14, listening to anarchy in the uk by
sex pistols & listening to punk rock bands like anti pasti, crass,
exploited, devo, uk subs, made me merge the socialist ideals i’d heard &
liked into the ideals of anarchy cuz of the ‘there is no authority only
yourself’ vibe from those records. And the anti-social nature i was developing
& the ongoing hatred of the whole capitalistic exploitation of the whole
planet.
I had a
death vibe too as a young teenager, after i got expelled from lawnswood &
went to special school – for 2 or 3 afternoons a week & then i got
introduced to crime (thanks tony xx) i got a probationer worker who was a young
(though old to me at the time) woman who diagnosed me as having a ‘death wish’
but i was just fascinated by it! I didn’t actually try to commit suicide until
1995 – twice, so i guess in the long
term view she was right. Oh, & when i tried to cut my wrist veins i was
listening to ‘anarchy’ by chumbawumba....guess thats the most anarcho thing
i’ve ever done?! Maybe, maybe not ha ha ha
Anarchy to
me? holy fucling satan, somehow i think
it could work, sometimes not – it depends on how i’m feeling on that particular
day.
Destroy the
system from within, for the roots of the system lie with.....
Ok, more
from March 2013 now:
One book,
of the many I’ve read about/describing anarchy, stands out and that is ‘the
dispossessed’ by Ursula k le guin....basically its a work of fiction, written
in the 70’s (?) based on an anarchist colony living on the moon. Our earth –
our moon, but set in some dystopian future. What happened was a revolution
happened on earth & the perpetrators were shipped off to moon, they must’ve
terraformed it so it was capable of sustaining human existence. And it goes
from there. True, i probably ain’t re-read it for about a decade and i used to
read it quite often but I do remember the opening line.....’there was a
wall’.....and that started it.
There’s
much more i’d like to add to this bit on anarchism, but i want to move on to
other stuff – so check back later for more updates.
